Have your children take turns pretending to be a newspaper reporter interviewing their favorite author. Remind them to ask important questions of “who,” “what,” “when,” “where,” and “why.” Ask them to pause after each question to allow them time to think about the question and what they want to say. Pausing to think teaches children the give and take of conversation and the importance of taking time to understand information they are receiving.
